The new City of Ottawa Central Archives has opened with expanded the hours for the volunteers. Volunteers from the Partners, including Ottawa Branch, serve as monitors, giving limited advice about the collections to visiting researchers, and re-shelving books. We can always use additional volunteers. Anyone willing to provide this valuable but not onerous service for half a day per week should contact the librarian or past chair.
The Archives is open Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 4pm and, from September to May, Saturday 10am to 5pm. We need one volunteer for the morning, 9am to 12:20 pm, and another in the afternoon, 12:30 to 4pm. Similarly 10am to 1:30 pm and 1:30-5pm on Saturday. Most work every second week but I am open to more frequently if you want. If you would like to volunteer to help in the Archives, contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. There will be orientation prior to starting and a new Instruction Manual.
