About Us

The Ottawa Branch is one of 32 Branches of the Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS). The Ottawa Branch is “responsible” for Carleton, Lanark, Renfrew, Prescott and Russell Counties in Ontario. The Branch consists of members who seek and share information about family history searching. Its mission is “To encourage, assist and bring together all those interested in the pursuit of family history.” If you want to discover more about your family origins, or how and where to locate information about your ancestors, our more than 800 members will be there to help you. To dig up family roots; to prove family traditions and legends; to learn of the times in which our ancestors lived; to find out about their struggles and progress as they carved out a new life for themselves; to gain a better image of our ancestors is an interesting and pleasurable pastime. We can help to “grow” your family trees and to discover new “branches.” We warmly welcome you as a guest at one of our monthly meetings. Membership in the Ottawa Branch provides you with all issues of the The Ottawa Genealogist published during the year.
